N’famady Kouyaté is a young energetic master musician from Guinea (Conakry), who relocated to Cardiff in 2019. A talented multi-instrumentalist who is wowing audiences across the UK and Ireland with his modern interpretations of traditional West African Mandingue songs . N’famady’s primary instrument is the balafon – the traditional wooden xylophone, sacred to West African culture and his family heritage of the griot/djeli.

He already has a legion of fans including Gruff Rhys (Super Furry Animals), Lisa Jên Brown (9Bach), and Kliph Scurlock (The Flaming Lips) who have guest appearances on his debut EP which was released in June 2021

COVID has restricted his live appearances so far, but he heads out across the UK taking in various festivals with his band this summer with a UK headline tour in November, again with band

No point in trying to describe his music, but expect the Womad vibe to be hitting Guildford this November. Check out the videos
